Cross the Tred Avon River between historic Oxford and Bellevue, Maryland.
The same storied passage travelers have made for over three centuries.
Skip the 30-minute drive around. Glide across in minutes.
A piece of living American history.
Since 1683, the Oxford–Bellevue Ferry has carried travelers across the Tred Avon River — more than three hundred and forty years of continuous service. Long before there were bridges or highways, this crossing connected the people, goods, and stories of Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Today the ferry remains privately owned and proudly operating, offering the same unhurried, scenic passage that generations before you have enjoyed. To ride the Oxford Ferry is to take part in a living piece of American history.

A wonderful slice of history. The captain was friendly and the views across the Tred Avon were stunning. A must-do on the Eastern Shore.
Saved us so much driving and turned an errand into the highlight of our trip. Our family LOVED it! You feel the history the moment you roll aboard.
We bike the route every summer and the ferry is the best part. Knowing it's been running since 1683 makes every crossing special.
